There might not be a quarterback in the country better set up for success than Ole Miss signal caller Jaxson Dart is in 2024.
Dart has earned his place in the preseason Heisman conversation. In 2023, he threw for 3,364 yards completing 63.1 percent of his passes and tossing 23 touchdowns to just five interceptions. All were career bests.
Entering his senior season in Oxford, Dart has College Football Playoff expectations riding on his arm. This fall is likely the most anticipated college football season in Ole Miss history and Dart is the biggest reason why.
On3's Jesse Simonton recently released his top-10 Heisman Trophy contenders list. The list features 10 quarterbacks, including five from the SEC alone. Dart checks in at No. 5 on Simonton's list trailing Carson Beck (Georgia), Quinn Ewers (Texas), Dillon Gabriel (Oregon) and Jalen Milroe (Alabama).
Interestingly enough, Dart ranks sixth on BetMGM's 2024 Heisman Odds:
- Carson Beck (+750)
- Quinn Ewers (+800)
- Dillon Gabriel (+900)
- Jalen Milroe (+1000)
- Will Howard (+1400)
- Jaxson Dart (+1500)
It's safe to say Dart is in pretty good company heading into this fall. Not to mention the Rebels have upgraded its wide receiver room with the transfer portal addition addition of Antwane 'Juice' Wells. He should be the perfect compliment to what preseason All-American wideout Tre Harris will provide on the outside.
Ole Miss' talent cup runneth over, especially on the offensive side of the football. With head coach Lane Kiffin pulling the strings there's a serious argument to be made for the Rebels being in control of the most explosive passing attack in college football.
