Dallas Mavericks vs Houston Rockets

It seems as if the Dallas Mavericks have shown the ability to make adjustments at halftime the past two games.

After struggling in the first half in all three games, Jason Kidd and his staff are coming up with offensive and defensive plays to give the team an edge.

Overall the Mavericks just have not shot the ball well but they are still finding ways to get points when they need them the most.

Here are a few ways the Mavericks were able to get a win in their home opener.

Kept the ball in Luka's hands

The Mavericks starters and bench struggled shooting the ball as Luka Doncic was the only player in double-digits with 13 points.

After the game, Doncic finished with a team-high 26 points, 11 rebounds, and 7 assists. Tim Hardaway Jr was second on the team with 16 points of his own.

Kristaps Porzingis had yet another poor shooting performance as he only added 9 points on 2-10 shooting.

He has been dealing with lower back pain which may be affecting his shooting, Jason Kidd said in his press conference he will be fine.

Even though Porzingis had recent struggles, Doncic used his playmaking skills to come away with the win.

Through the first three games, it seems that Luka will have to carry the load for the starters until others begin to step on consistently.

Reggie Bullock comes through off the bench

The Mavericks have received good play from players off the bench, which has been tremendous for the team.

Free-agent acquisition Reggie Bullock had himself a big night with 16 points off of the bench.

Fans were not sure exactly if Bullock could be a good addition or another Mavericks low-cost pick-up with not much upside.

At least for tonight, Bullock looked confident and relentless as he shot 54 percent from the field and gave the Mavericks a spark they needed in the second half.

Jalen Brunson helped off the bench with 11 points and 11 assists as he has been the most consistent bench performer.

Hopefully, we can continue to see more performances from the bench as it takes the pressure off the starters.

Kidd's Philosophy Being Implemented

Fans for sure are excited about the energy this team has so far under Kidd's coaching as he continues to implement his philosophy.

After a blowout loss in game one, Kidd has been giving players more playing time to those who are helping win games.

Kidd has been allowing players to use their talents rather than limiting them to a certain style of play.

Luka has been his usual self, but its players such as Hardaway and Brunson who have been very active in all three games.

As long as Kidd let these players be at their best and keeps them focused, the Mavericks will win a lot of games this season.
