The NFL trade deadline came and went on, and the Baltimore Ravens were among multiple division leaders that did not complete any move ahead of 4 p.m. ET on Tuesday.
The Ravens were regularly linked with Tennessee Titans running back Derrick Henry over the past week. Baltimore was reportedly the "team most interested" in acquiring Henry, but in the end, the three-time Pro Bowler stayed put with Tennessee.
According to NFL insider Josina Anderson on "CBS Sports HQ," the Ravens sought to bring in a running back ahead of this past Tuesday’s NFL trade deadline. Anderson did make clear that the "sentiment out there" regarding Henry’s availability was that the "price was just too steep."
At the end of the day, Baltimore had a ‘go big or go home’ mindset regarding its push to bolster its depth at the running back position.
“New [Titans] general manager Ran Carthon just not dropping that price and ultimately they did not get Derrick Henry, though still were looking at other options," Anderson said.
“The sentiment I was getting from Baltimore was that it couldn't just be a mediocre running back, it had to be somebody that was going to be a difference-maker."
The likes of New York Giants running back Saquon Barkley and Las Vegas Raiders standout Josh Jacobs were also regulars in the trade rumor mill over the past few weeks, but they each ultimately stayed on with their respective teams.
The Ravens will continue to rely on both Gus Edwards and Justice Hill to lead their run game this season. The two versatile running backs have helped the current AFC North leaders rank at third in rushing yards per game with a 143.1 average.
