It is that time of the year when the NFL MVP race emerges as one of the biggest storylines in the league.

There are currently no surprise contenders for this season's NFL MVP award. As expected, Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes is among the serious contenders for the NFL’s most prestigious individual honor, but he is not the current betting favorite to win it.

According to the FanDuel Sportsbook, Mahomes has the third-best odds (+460) to win the NFL MVP award. Following a dramatic victory over the Chiefs, Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts now boasts the best odds (+250) to take home the honor.

Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson holds the second-best odds (+420) to win the NFL MVP award for the second time in his career. Jackson is just coming off of a potent performance in Baltimore’s Week 11 win against the Cincinnati Bengals in which he threw two touchdown passes.

Jackson will have multiple golden opportunities over the remainder of the season to up his odds for the NFL MVP award. Three out of Baltimore’s remaining six games on its schedule will be on primetime, including its upcoming road matchup against the Los Angeles Chargers on "Sunday Night Football."

Jackson has recorded 17 total touchdowns and a 100.1 passer rating so far this season.
