Ever since he first donned a Baltimore Ravens jersey, Roquan Smith has drawn plenty of comparisons to Ray Lewis. These such comparisons have been more frequent this season, especially as Smith has continued to up his play across the board.

Lewis has kept a close watch on Smith through the early stages of the ongoing campaign. Lewis is quite a fan of Smith, but for the one-time Pro Bowler to take his game to the next level, the former Ravens linebacker believes that it will come down to him simply emerging as a leader on the field.

"There's a difference between a superstar and a rock star," Lewis said on "The Lounge" podcast. "Superstars, they're amazing. Rock stars, change people. Rock stars make everybody around them better.

"Roquan has the ability to be a rock star. … You'll know, by the way, everybody starts to communicate on that defense right because it's a special thing. When you see it, you see it, and so I'm waiting to see that."

Lewis added that when he watched film with Smith ahead of the season, he challenged him to "go communicate with everyone" on the field.

Lewis also noted that "on every great team, there has to be a designated leader," and from the outside looking in, he sees that Smith may be that player filling this role for Baltimore.

Smith has been as valuable as could be for Ravens defensive coordinator Mike Macdonald this season. He currently leads the Ravens in total tackles (54) and he boasts a career-high 3.8 blitzes per game average.

Smith and the Ravens will look to move to a 4-2 record in Week 6 when they meet the Tennessee Titans.
