Bills: Brandon Beane opens up on Damar Hamlin's future in the NFL
An update the entire world has been waiting for.
Buffalo Bills safety Damar Hamlin has one of the most incredible comeback stories in all of sports.
Hamlin suffered a reported cardiac arrest and needed to be resuscitated on the field. Some quick thinking from Bills' assistant athletic trainer, Denny Kellington, and Damar was able to pull through.
Since the traumatic injury, it seems the entire world has been keeping tabs on the talented safety and his recovery. Since his injury, Damar has FaceTimed with teammates, showed up in attendance for a playoff game, won a handful of awards, and even started an initiative that focuses on CPR.
The most recent update from Buffalo Bills GM Brandon Beane is one that Hollywood writes movies about.
Beane mentioned during a press conference that Hamlin is working on returning to the football field. Not even a year removed from being administered CPR on the field and it appears we may see Hamlin suit up on gameday sooner rather than later.
Beane opened up, admitting that he has met with Hamlin recently to discuss all things football and Hamlin's future in the NFL. Hamlin left no doubt in his mind, informing Beane that he has every intention to return to the team to compete.
While we aren't sure just how close Hamlin is, the young safety was given an impressive green light from an NFLPA doctor just a few weeks ago. The doctor flat-out announced that Hamlin would undoubtedly be playing football once again.
Now, Beane has seemingly shared the same sentiment. This life-changing announcement is sure to make Hamlin and the Bills Mafia emotional. Just a few months ago, we were unsure if Hamlin would walk or talk again. There was a very real possibility that he could have lost his life on the football field. Now, it appears we are closer than ever to seeing him run out of the tunnel on game day.
Luckily for Bills Mafia, it sounds like this will be happening sooner rather than later. Hamlin has continued to defy the odds, it's not surprising to think he would do it again with a return to the NFL.
We can picture it now: Hamlin running out of the tunnel, the crowd screaming his name, he kneels down on the field with his hand pointed in the air.
Goosebumps.
