Another day, another body added to camp for the Buffalo Bills.
Brandon Beane and the front office have been busy over the past few days inviting XFL players to compete in their rookie mini-camp. Competition is key and the team will have plenty of it over these next few weeks.
The Buffalo Bills looked to both sides of the football with their recent decisions. On defense, they invited DB Antonine Brooks and S Nate Meadors. On offense, the team invited T Eric Magwood, so far.
Now, the XFL announced that QB Quinten Dormady of the Orlando Guardians was invited to compete in the Buffalo Bills rookie mini-camp.
Dormady transferred throughout his college career before playing one season with Central Michigan in which he threw for 2,312 yards 14 touchdowns and nine interceptions with a 64.6% completion percentage. After going undrafted, Dormady signed with the Montreal Alouettes of the CFL but was cut before training camp. He had a tryout with the Green Bay Packers before returning to the Alouettes. While unable to see the field, Dormady took his talents to the XFL.
The former XFL quarterback was actually released from the Orlando Guardians after he reportedly gave an opposing team plays from their playbook. Just one day later, he was reinstated while a third-party investigator looked into the claims. Dormady was later deemed innocent and within a few weeks won over the starting job. Dormady played in seven games which resulted in 1507 yards, 10 touchdowns, and five interceptions with a 68.3% completion percentage.
This is Josh Allen's team and there is a very small chance Dormady is able to make it on the active roster. Right now, the front office is looking to add capable bodies to camp and give these players a chance to fulfill their dream of making an NFL roster.
If Dormady, or any of the XFL invites or undrafted rookies, were able to crack the roster, they could immediately become fan favorites. While a long shot, crazier things have happened in the NFL.
