The Buffalo Bills are in the midst of some difficult decisions.

One of the premiere players on their team, Tremaine Edmunds, is due for a contract extension. The All-Pro linebacker has been a staple on the defensive front since joining the team in 2017.

Special draft for Buffalo

What's even more interesting is what position Edmunds was drafted in. In 2017, Buffalo took Josh Allen at number 7 and then Edmunds at 16. The greater Buffalo area code is 716 which makes that draft even more special. Buffalo landed their offensive franchise cornerstone and what appeared to be their defensive cornerstone as well.

Tremaine Edmunds is consistent on the defensive front, averaging over 100 tackles in each of his five seasons, making the decision even more difficult.

With the current cap situation, it's going to take some wizardry to bring Edmunds back to Buffalo. Currently, it's estimated according to PFF that Edmunds's new deal will be coming at 3 years 45.75 million dollar contract, money that Buffalo doesn't have.

If Beane decides to move on, he will need an immediate replacement for one of the most important positions on the defense. Luckily, his replacement may have just been released.

Bobby Wagner is a top-tier linebacker in the NFL, even at his age. In fact, during this past season, PFF had Wagner as the number-one graded linebacker in all of the football since 2013!

Intriguing replacement

Wagner joining the roster is a long shot, but that same sentiment was expressed with Von Miller.

The All-Pro veteran would make the pain of losing Edmunds just a little bit easier. While Wagner wouldn't be a long-term solution, it would buy the Bills time to find the eventual starting middle linebacker through drafting and developing.

Ultimately, Buffalo should find a way to bring back Tremaine. If that simply can't happen, it's hard to imagine Beane won't be making a few calls to see what it would take to bring Wagner to Buffalo.

It may be as simple as showing Wagner the current roster. Pairing up with Von Miller and playing with Josh Allen may just be too enticing to pass up.
