Buffalo Bills RB Nyheim Hines

Buffalo Bills veteran RB Nyheim Hines is out for the season after suffering a brutal injury on a jet ski.

Now, Sean McDermott and the Buffalo Bills coaching staff has an important vacancy they need to fill, and fast. With camp set to begin soon, Buffalo is out a veteran KR/PR and an additional running back.

However, there could be a solution to their problem without looking to bring in an outside player. In fact, Buffalo has more than one option to solve their vacant position. While Brandon Beane wasted no time with a few tryouts, including an XFL star, Buffalo very well could have their answer on the current roster.

Undrafted rookie running back Jordan Mims could take over the position that Nyheim Hines was going to have in the running/passing game. Mims made headlines a few weeks ago catching an impressive over-the-shoulder pass with Josh Allen draped all over him. Mims, while a longshot to make the roster, just got a huge boost with Hines missing the season.

The former Fresno State Bulldog was called a Swiss army knife that any offense could use. Mims, surprisingly, had a career drop rate of only 7.1%. However, he didn't drop a single target last season, something that McDermott and Josh Allen would definitely enjoy as part of the offense. He's capable of creating explosive plays every time he touches the football and could make an immediate impact on the roster. While he is undrafted, and a longshot to make the roster, camp just got a whole lot more interesting for him. In our very own way-too-early 53 man roster prediction, we had Mims making the roster.

As for the KR/PR, Buffalo actually has an All-Pro returner in recently acquired Deonte Harty. During Harty's rookie season, in 2019, he was named an All-Pro return man. Harty could make the roster and make an immediate impact on the KR/PR game, giving Buffalo a huge boost in both areas. Harty, as a returner, has returned 77 punts for 752 yards and a touchdown along with 75 kick returns for 1907 yards. The veteran has also made some noise in the passing game with 64 receptions for 752 yards and a touchdown.

All eyes are going to be on Buffalo and whatever they decide to do with Hines' replacement. If Mims and Harty are able to make a splash and fight for the starting position, we could quickly see them becoming fan favorites.
