The Buffalo Bills (11-3) are now officially in the playoffs. A win versus the Miami Dolphins puts them one win away from another AFC East title, and one win closer to winning the number one seed in the AFC.
Much of the attention is on QB Josh Allen and his continued MVP-type play. However, what is going almost unnoticed is the historic pace of his number one target.
WR Stefon Diggs is on the verge of something no other Bills playmaker has achieved in a single season.
Diggs is only 29 receptions and 236 yards away from breaking his own franchise record for receptions and receiving yards in a season (1535), and two touchdowns from breaking Bill Brooks' franchise record for receiving touchdowns in a season (11).
Such an accomplishment would make him the first Bills receiver to own the single-season receiving Triple Crown in franchise history. The second-closest being Eric Moulds in 2000 and 2002.
At his current pace, Diggs will finish with around 120 receptions, 1,578 yards and 12 touchdowns. Falling just a few receptions shy of his needed mark.
The good news is the Buffalo Bills next three games are against teams allowing over 200 passing yards per game.
Considering that Diggs currently accounts for 33.6% of their receiving output, it could turn out to be enough to reach the mark.
