Cincinnati Bengals running back Joe Mixon is scheduled to appear in court once more for his aggravated menacing charge.

Per Charlie Clifford of Cincinnati's WLWT, Mixon's trial date is set for next month, August 14.

The 14th of August is in the middle of the Bengals' preseason slate, just a few days after the team's first exhibition against the Green Bay Packers. Mixon and the starters shouldn't play too much, if any, of that game regardless.

Mixon was last in court in May, when he pleaded not guilty to the charge.

The charge of aggravated menacing was originally filed against Mixon on February 2, and was subsequently dropped a day later with the possibility of a re-filing. On April 7, Cincinnati Police Department re-filed the charge on account of "discovery of new evidence." The charge is a first-degree misdemeanor and could carry a maximum sentence of 180 days, a maximum fine of $1000 and a maximum of five years of probation in Ohio.

The Bengals' offseason actions indicate they expect Mixon to play for them this season, though a pay cut may still be on the table for the seventh-year running back. Mixon is set to count for nearly $13 million against the salary cap this season, and is under contract through 2024.
