The last free agent who played for the 2023 Cincinnati Bengals has found a new home.

Per KPRC2's Aaron Wilson, former Bengals offensive lineman Max Scharping has signed with the Philadelphia Eagles.

Scharping, a second-round selection from the 2019 NFL Draft by the Houston Texans, found his way to Cincinnati via a waiver claim at the start of the 2022 regular season. He played 14 games for the Bengals during the season, and started all three playoff games at right guard.

The Bengals re-signed Scharping following the expiration of his rookie contract to a one-year deal worth slightly more than the veteran minimum for his level of experience. He would make the 2023 team as well, but only tallied 13 offensive snaps all season as Cincinnati's offensive line maintained great health throughout the season.

Scharping made the roster as the backup center/swing guard, and with the drafting of Matt Lee in the seventh round back in April, that spot may've already been filled. Scharping will now compete for a roster spot with the Eagles, who happen to face the Bengals in Week 8 of this season. Philly also signed former Bengals' first-round pick John Ross last month as well.

Scharping was the final Bengals player from last year with an expiring contract to land a new opportunity. Any player(s) the Bengals may add from here on out will have played for a different club last year unless an unexpected release occurs.
