Cautious optimism surrounds the timetable for Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow's return from a strained calf he suffered this week.
Head coach Zac Taylor stated that his quarterback would be out for several weeks, but would not comment on if he would end up missing any regular season games.
The Bengals have six weeks until Week 1 rolls around, and an NFL insider seems to believe Burrow has a good chance of being back by then.
NFL Media's Mike Garafolo reports that the buzz around Burrow's injury and now recovery is still pretty vague, as in no set timetable has been established, but that there's not been any panic of him missing regular season action.
"My belief is that Week 1 should be a realistic possibility for Joe Burrow. That's the sound that I'm getting. No one's really saying 'boy, he's really in danger of missing a couple of regular season weeks.'
"I believe he is going to be out there Week One. Barring any setbacks."
This has unfortunately been the norm for Burrow. A torn ACL suffered during his rookie season greatly impacted his 2021 training camp, and appendicitis took him out of commission for a few weeks leading up to the 2022 season.
Burrow has yet to miss a Week 1 game in his career, and the sense is that streak isn't ending this year barring any setbacks to his calf strain.
