Cincinnati Bengals running back Joe Mixon was found not guilty of aggravated menacing Thursday morning.

Hamilton County Judge Gwen Bender made the ruling after four days of trial for Mixon's misdemeanor charge stemming from a road rage incident all the way back in January.

While the incident occurred on January 21, the charge of aggravated menacing was originally filed against Mixon on February 2, and was subsequently dropped a day later with the possibility of a re-filing. On April 7, Cincinnati Police Department re-filed the charge on account of "discovery of new evidence."

Mixon’s agent, Peter Schaffer, released a statement following the not guilty verdict: “Knowing the facts, knowing Joe as a person and having tremendous faith in the legal systems ability to get to the truth we had no doubt of the eventual outcome. This vindicates Joe as a person and that is what’s most important. Back to the business of football.”

The Bengals also released a statement following the verdict:

“Since he joined the organization in 2017, Joe Mixon has been a valuable part of the Cincinnati Bengals. Joe has been a top level running back with multiple 1000-yard rushing seasons, and he has been an even better teammate enjoying real popularity among his peers. During the past seven years, Joe has been active with the community, and his constant smile and energy have made him a favorite among thousands of fans. The organization is pleased that this matter is now behind everyone, and we look forward to an exciting season with Joe being an important part of the football team.” – Bengals' statement on Mixon

Mixon has been away from Bengals practice since the trial began on Monday. It's unclear if he will travel with the team to Atlanta for the second preseason game against the Falcons.
