The mood around the NFL is in a much better place on Thursday thanks to some positive updates about Buffalo Bills safety Damar Hamlin.
Hamlin is still in the hospital, but according to doctors at UC-Medical center, the former Pittsburgh Panthers standout has been alert and able to communicate via writing. He even asked if the Bills beat the Cincinnati Bengals on Monday night.
On Thursday, Bengals offensive lineman Ted Karras, a team captain, was spotted in Cincinnati's locker room wearing a shirt that said "513 stands with Buffalo".
The 5 and the 1 were in Bengals colors, while the 3, Hamlin's number, was in Bills' colors.
Karras told reporters that his "spirit felt restored" after hearing about the latest update on Hamlin. He also said that if Hamlin asked who won the game upon waking up, it would be the stuff of legends.
It's been really cool to see the whole league come together in support of Hamlin.
When football resumes this weekend, it'll be important that Hamlin continues to receive support. He still has a long road ahead.
