CeeDee Lamb is certainly carrying the torch for Dallas Cowboys legend Michael Irvin as he wears No. 88, and he's also doing it by making big plays and breaking franchise records.

Including Irvin's own franchise record of 111 receptions in a single season that was set all the way back in 1995 – which also just so happened to be the last time the Cowboys won the Super Bowl.

Yep, Lamb broke Irvin's record on Saturday night against the Detroit Lions, but it came in one of the worst ways, possible. Lamb caught the record-breaking 112th reception, but fumbled the ball through the end zone, which resulted in a touchback and a brand new Lions possession.

The good news is the Lions didn't score any points on the subsequent possession thanks to Dan Campbell's decision to go for it on 4th and goal from the Cowboys 4. It's one thing to go for it on 4th and goal from the 1, or something like that, but it's a totally different story when going for it from that distance. Especially when you can cut a four-point lead to just one.

And, Lamb scored a scintillating, 92-yard touchdown earlier in the game that gave the Cowboys said lead. There was also a five-yard hitch that he turned into a 31-yard gain, before that. Sure, it was a bad mistake, but it shouldn't wipe out Lamb's accomplishments, beforehand.

But at the same time, while Lamb is certainly pleased about breaking the record, he never wants to do it in that fashion. Fortunately for him, he caught two passes for 18-yards on the Cowboys' next drive, so he can just erase the record-breaker from memory and replace it with one of the others, if he wants.
