Broncos LB already knows what to expect from new teammates
He’s helping Broncos fans get a better understanding of what they’re getting on their team.
The Denver Broncos have made more moves during free agency than probably anyone. It's safe to say they splurged. But, at the same time, they did things they needed to do. They filled holes that needed to be filled.
They re-signed Alex Singleton, who was their best linebacker last season, and they signed two new offensive linemen, which was by far their biggest hole. Really both of those moves were top priorities on my list.
Russell Wilson was sacked 55 times last year, which was tied for the most with Chicago Bears quarterback Justin Fields. Singleton played a crucial role in the coverage game at that linebacker spot. And he led the team in tackles, so he kind of really did it all – exactly what they need for 2023.
Broncos fans know what to expect from Singleton. He is a guy that comes in every day and does his job, and he is as consistent as sit gets. But, fans don't really know about the two other big-time signings on the offensive line.
Luckily, Singleton was told what to expect from both Ben Powers and Mike McGlinchey.
“The two things I’ve heard about them from the guys I trained with were like, ‘They are great dudes. You’re going to love them. They’re a great time. They work hard. They’re fun to be around,'" Singleton said on the DNVR podcast.
“Super happy they’re coming. I’ve played against them both. They’re both studs. They’re both really good. I’m excited to have them. It’s going to be great.”
This team needs to establish a new culture and a new identity. Well, not really new, because the team last year didn't really have one if you ask me. But they do need one, and knowing Sean Payton's teams in the past, it will be similar to what Singleton described the two new offensive linemen.
This team will likely try to outwork you. They will work hard, but they will also have a great time. Look back at those great New Orleans Saints teams and their identity was very similar.
I think we can expect to see something like that in 2023, especially on the offensive line, and in the trenches.
