Denver Broncos agree to terms on a three-year deal with DL Zach Allen
The Broncos are bringing in a familiar face to spark Vance Joseph’s defense.
Sean Payton and the Denver Broncos' front office have been busy since free agency opened.
The team reached agreements with QB Jarrett Stidham, LG Ben Powers, RT Mike McGlinchey, along with a few others once the legal tampering period began on Monday. On top of that, Payton and the front office agreed to a deal to keep Alex Singleton with the team for another three years.
But just when Broncos fans thought the team might be done for the day, news broke of another monster deal.
Per NFL Network's Ian Rappaport, the Denver Broncos and former Cardinals DL Zach Allen agreed to terms on a three-year, $45.75 million deal.
Denver is/was at risk of losing one of their best defensive players in Dre'Mont Jones and most likely felt pressure to fill that gap. Jones is very likely to receive a king's ransom on the open market and Denver was able to land what will likely be a cheaper deal with Allen.
Zach Allen is a one-man wrecking crew and was one of the lone bright spots in an otherwise underwhelming Arizona Cardinals team last year. The talented defensive end accumulated 47 total tackles, 23 combined tackles, and 5.5 sacks. He's hoping to continue to build on his career-best season under the new regime in Denver.
The key with Allen, however, is his relationship with Broncos defensive coordinator, Vance Joseph. The fifth-year player has played his entire career in Joseph's defense. Therefore, there will be no adjustment period – Allen will be continue to ride the momentum he created in Arizona.
