They got it done! The Jacksonville Jaguars signed tight end Evan Engram to a three-year contract prior to Monday's NFL deadline for a long-term deal.
The news was revealed by Engram's agent Mike McCartney on Twitter on Sunday.
Engram has previously received the franchise tag for the 2023 season which was set to earn him $11.34 million. Per Ian Rapoport and Tom Pelissero, the new deal is worth $41.25 million with $24 million guaranteed.
On average, Engram will be making $13.75 million per year. Under this criterion, Engram will be the sixth-highest-paid tight end in the NFL behind Mark Andrews, Dallas Goedert, Travis Kelce, and George Kittle.
The new extension can almost be seen as a two-year extension on top of his franchise tag.
Last season was Engram's first with the Jaguars but it was made clear right from the get-go that get was a great fit for the team as he posted a career-high 73 catches and 766 yards (also a career-high).
If you haven't heard by now, head coach Doug Pederson is very fond of tight ends. The latest news means his offense will keep featuring a high-end playmaker at the position. It also assures Trevor Lawrence will keep one of his best friends over the next three seasons.
