Well, that's what you would think. You can't really do anything until you have a general manager and head coach, and the Raiders happen to have neither. They fired Josh McDaniels and Dave Ziegler in Week 9, so they have had interims taking over since then.
The first to-do for the Raiders was to find the general manager. Unlike in the past, Mark Davis has made it pretty clear he wanted to find the general manager first before the head coach. We have created a GM interview tracker to help keep up with the candidates.
So, all that he has conducted so far has been general manager interviews. None of those have been for Champ Kelly, the interim GM for the last half of the 2023 season. Well, that is, until Monday.
According to Tashan Reed and Vic Tafur of the Athletic, the Raiders interviewed Champ Kelly and Antonio Pierce on Monday. And, if they are doing the head coaching interview for Pietrce, knowing that he wants to find the general manager first, I'd guess that means he may want Kelly as the GM.
But all of that is speculation. Fans have been waiting for the Raiders to interview those two, though, and they have finally done it. Now, we have to wait over the next few days to hear of any news regarding the two positions.
