When running backs or quarterbacks play well, they tend to get all the adulation. But much of their success comes from the play on the offensive line up front.
And, in a recent ESPN article, it was revealed that among 50 NFL coaches, scouts, and executives, the Raiders have a top-10 level player along the trenches — offensive tackle Kolton Miller.
Here is a look at what they had to say about Miller:
Miller never got much top-10 traction in past years but received significant votes after a strong 2022 campaign. Known more for his pass blocking, he led this year’s group in run block win rate (81.7%), helping spring running back Josh Jacobs for 1,653 yards.
Miller was a first-round pick from UCLA in the 2018 NFL Draft. And each season, he has improved as a player. Now, at 27, he is in the prime of his career and Jacobs was better in the 2022 season because of it.
What adds fuel to the shocking selection of Miller at No. 10 was that he has never made a Pro Bowl. But 2023, if it is anything like the five seasons prior, could be the year he breaks through as a Pro Bowl-level player.
In the ESPN article, One NFC exec called him an "easy mover."
"Better athlete than he is an enforcer," the exec said. "Great feet and movement but doesn't play with enough power, strength, or anchor. Gets swallowed by bull rushes and knocked back."
Also on the list were Christian Darrisaw (9), Rashawn Slater (8), Andrew Thomas (7), Penei Sewell (6), Jordan Mailata (5), Lane Johnson (4), Tristan Wirfs (3), Laremy Tunsil (2), Trent Williams, (1).
