Sitting at 2-4, should the team buy or sell at the 2023 trade deadline? If the team decides to sell, there are plenty of veterans on expiring deals the team could look to move. However, Kwesi Adofo-Mensah has made it known he's not keen on the idea of a complete rebuild.
Assuming the Vikings win the next two games before the deadline, the team could instead be interested in adding. Let's identify some players the Vikings could explore trades for.
Julian Okwara, LB

Perhaps the Lions would be interested in a little interdivisional trade? Okwara has found himself buried on the depth chart in Detroit but has shown flashes in the past.
As recently as 2022, Okwara had 17 tackles and 2 sacks. The addition of a player like Okwara is more interesting now that Marcus Davenport is on injured reserve. Okwara is on an expiring rookie deal, so the team would not have to take on much money to see if the play could contribute.
The Vikings will likely lose Davenport and Danielle Hunter soon, so taking a flier on a reclamation project makes some sense.
Jerry Jeudy, WR

Jeudy is an interesting player. The former 15th-overall pick has never lived up to his draft pedigree, but he hasn’t been in the most favorable situations either.
In 2022 with Russell Wilson at QB, Jeudy has his best season as a pro. The receiver caught 67 passes for 972 yards and 6 touchdowns. Jeudy is well short of that pace in 2023, having caught 20 passes for 222 yards and 0 TDs thus far.
A change of scenery could work wonders for Jeudy. It's clear the Vikings need another reliable receiving threat to go with Justin Jefferson and Jordan Addison. Jeudy's price may be prohibitive, as the receiver is due just under $13M in 2024. However, the Broncos may be willing to pay some of that down if the relationship sours.
Kaiir Elam, DB

Elam is another first-round pick who hasn’t panned out yet. Like Jeudy, the Vikings could benefit from a former high draft pick falling out of favor with his team.
Elam did collect 2 interceptions in his rookie season but finished with a subpar PFF grade of 56.7. The corner is still only 22, but the Bills are trying to contend now. If the Bills are interested in any of the Vikings' trade pieces, Elam would be a nice get in return for Minnesota.
Unlike Okwara, Elam is not on an expiring deal. The Vikes would have the corner through 2025.
