How will the run game look?
The Vikings have had the worst rushing attack in the league through two games. The team has averaged just 34.5 yards on the ground per game. In response to the struggles, the team traded for Cam Akers this week.
Will Akers be involved immediately? Or will Alexander Mattison prove he still deserves the bulk of the carries? The Chargers are allowing over 100 rushing yards per game to opponents, so this game will be a crucial litmus test for the Vikes.
Three Vikings to watch
Alexander Mattison– The run game struggles have been well-documented for Minnesota. I am interested to see how Mattison will respond this weekend. With another bad game, the running back will likely lose snaps to either newly-acquired Cam Akers or one of the other backs on the roster.
Camryn Bynum– The Chargers have one of the more dynamic passing attacks in the league. It will be interesting to see how the young Vikings' secondary responds to the tough challenge. Bynum has had a fantastic start to the season, and will need to have another big game this weekend. If Bynum can set the tone and avoid getting beat deep, the Vikings could be in good shape.
Dalton Risner– Risner was brought in this week to provide veteran leadership to the offensive line. The Vikings' line has been bullied all season and has allowed way too many hits on Kirk Cousins. Risner should provide an immediate upgrade up front. It will be interesting to see if the veteran guard immediately starts.
