NFL Power Rankings Week 5:
1. San Francisco 49ers (4-0) ↔️
For the fourth straight week, the San Francisco 49ers sit atop of our NFL Power Rankings. There simply isn't a team that looks more well-rounded than the 49ers. Their offense is filled with playmakers, with one of the brightest offensive minds in the league running the show in Kyle Shannon. And their defense comes out every week with the goal of punching their opponents in the mouth to set the tone.
2. Philadelphia Eagles (4-0) 📈 2
Some may question how they are doing it, but the Philadelphia Eagles remain undefeated. They have had to figure out things on both sides of the ball with new coaches at the helm of both units. The unbelievable talent across this roster, though, has withstood the early season growing pains. And the overall talent on both sides of the ball warrants them moving up to second on our NFL Power Rankings.
3. Buffalo Bills (3-1) 📈 2
The reigning kings of the AFC East retook their throne this week in a big matchup with the Miami Dolphins. The Buffalo Bills and Josh Allen disappointingly started this season with their loss to the New York Jets, where Allen threw three ugly interceptions. Since that loss, the Buffalo Bills are 3-0, outscoring their opponents 123 to 33, and Allen has now become the odds favorite to win the league's MVP award. I'd say the Bills and Allen have responded to their Week 1 disappointments quite nicely.
4. Kansas City Chiefs (3-1) 📉 2
The Kansas City Chiefs struggled this past week against the New York Jets on both sides of the ball. Patrick Mahomes looked human in this one, throwing two interceptions, in which he was to blame for both. The defense didn't have their best day either and saw Jets QB Zach Wilson look as comfortable as we've seen him since Aaron Rodgers went down in the season's opening week.
5. Miami Dolphins (3-1) 📉 1
The red-hot Miami Dolphins were finally cooled down after suffering their first loss of the season to the Buffalo Bills 48-20. Early on, both offenses were returning shots back and forth, but eventually, the Dolphins couldn't return serve and began falling behind. They will have another shot at the Bills later this season, but as of right now, the AFC East seems to run through Buffalo.
6. Dallas Cowboys (3-1) ↔️
7. Baltimore Ravens (3-1) ↔️
8. Detroit Lions (3-1) ↔️
The Detroit Lions started Week 4 with a bang as they dominated their divisional rival, the Green Bay Packers, on Thursday Night Football 34-20. This seemed like the most well-rounded the Lions have looked this season. Their offense and defense appeared too much for the Green Bay Packers. With the Minnesota Vikings and Chicago Bears struggling tremendously to start this season, the Lions and Packers seemed to be in a two-team race for the NFC North, but this week, the Lions lapped the Packers as well.
9. Jacksonville Jaguars (2-2) 📈 3
10. Los Angeles Chargers (2-2) 📈 1
11. Seattle Seahawks (3-1) 📈 5
The Seattle Seahawks flat-out embarrassed the New York Giants on Monday Night Football to cap off Week 4 of the 2023 NFL season. While the Seahawk's offense continued their impressive play, the real headliners in this win was their defense. They produced 11 sacks on the day and saw rookie Devon Witherspoon have his breakout game, leading to a 24-3 win in New York.
12. Cleveland Browns (2-2) 📉 1
13. Cincinnati Bengals (1-3) 📉 4
14. Los Angeles Rams (2-2) 📈 5
15. Washington Commanders (2-2) 📈 5
16. Green Bay Packers (2-2) 📉 3
17. Minnesota Vikings (1-3) ↔️
18. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (3-1) 📈 7
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have been the biggest surprise this season. They were a team many believed would be in the race for the number one pick, but instead sit at 3-1 atop of the NFC South. This week, they dominated the New Orleans Saints, a team who has had their number in recent years.
19. New Orleans Saints (2-2) 📉
20. Indianapolis Colts (2-2) 📉 2
21. Tennesee Titans (2-2) 📈 2
22. Houston Texans (2-2) 📈 6
After losing their first two games, the Houston Texans have won back-to-back weeks in blowout fashion. As they outscored the Jacksonville Jaguars and Pittsburgh Steelers 67-23. Their rookie QB CJ Stroud has looked fantastic to start the year, and rookie head coach DeMeco Ryans seems to have quickly changed the culture in Houston.
23. Pittsburgh Steelers (2-2) 📉 8
24. New York Jets (1-3) ↔️
25. Atlanta Falcons (2-2) 📉 3
26. New England Patriots 📉 5
27. Las Vegas Raiders (1-3) ↔️
28. New York Giants (1-3) 📉 2
The New York Giants offense continues to show regression from last year, this time in front of a national audience on Monday Night Football, losing to the Seattle Seahawks 24-3. Daniel Jones and the Giants offense made the Seahawks defense look like one of the best in the NFL, but coming into this game, the unit was looked at as middle of the pack at best. The Giants and head coach Brian Daboll probably regret the big contract they handed QB Daniel Jones right about now.
29. Arizona Cardinals (1-3) ↔️
30. Denver Broncos (1-3) ↔️
31. Chicago Bears (0-4) 📈 1
r32. Carolina Panthers (0-4) 📉 1
