The New England Patriots continue bringing on potential weapons for the offense.
KPCR's Aaron Wilson reported that the Patriots have signed receiver T.J. Luther to the practice squad.
The Boston Herald's Doug Kyed then reported that the Patriots released receiver Thyrick Pitts as a corresponding move.
Luther visited Foxborough in April on a pre-draft visit, but ultimately was not drafted by any team. He then signed with the Jets this offseason as an undrafted free agent.
However, he didn't make the 53-man roster.
Beginning his college career at Wofford, Luther then transfered to Gardner-Webb. Across his six year career, he was a used at receiver and a kickoff returner, finishing his final season with 55 catches for 1,035 yards and seven touchdowns.
On the active roster, the Patriots have five wide receivers: JuJu Smith-Schuster, DeVante Parker, Kendrick Bourne and rookies Demario Douglas and Kayshon Boutte. Luther will join Jalen Reagor who was also recently signed to the practice squad.
