Many think the New England Patriots might part ways with head coach Bill Belichick based on how this season is going.
While this concept might seem crazy, with the coach having led the Patriots to six Super Bowl championships, his shortcomings as a general manager in recent years have allowed New England to decline.
So all of this could lead to a mutual parting of ways, and one ESPN Analyst revealed some insider information that might make Belichick's future plans more clear.
"I've heard more and more of that over the past week," Dan Orlovsky said during an appearance on the Pat McAfee show on Tuesday. "I'm not a reporter, all that stuff, but I have heard that. I have heard that that's going to be the case…who knows the likelihood of it, but I've heard that's going to happen.
And he finished it off dropping a massive bomb.
"And I've heard the location has kind of been determined as well," Orlovsky said.
However, when pressured to reveal more information about this future location, the former NFL quarterback kept his mouth shut.
The Athletic's Dianna Russini reported on Sunday that she had talked to some people that believe Belichick and the Patriots could agree on a mutual parting of ways after the season.
However, Ian Rapoport reported that same day that Belichick's new contract extension is through this year and at least next year.
"My understanding is Robert Kraft, the owner, is not inclined to fire Bill Belichick midseason, which is unbelievable and amazing that we are even discussing this," Rapoport said. "But given the record, given the last couple of years, at least it is a topic in New England in the airwaves and elsewhere."
"There's a lot of reasons why it makes no sense to fire Bill Belichick midseason. First of all, it's the greatest coach of all time. Sometimes these guys are treated differently," Rapoport added. "Another part of this is functionally if Belichick is somehow, someway going to coach elsewhere next year, Patriots have him under contract. They would at least want some sort of compensation to make this happen."
With this, the only question remaining is if Belichick's departure will be because of a trade with the contract extension or if they will just allow him to move on.
I guess we'll have to wait and see what happens.
Is it time for Patriots to move on from Bill Belichick? I think not
It shouldn’t be over yet.
