The New England Patriots have finally got their guy.

After searching for a veteran running back to join the team, the Patriots have gotten one of the top free agents this offseason.

The Patriots have signed Ezekiel Elliott to a 1-year deal worth up to $6 million, Ian Rapoport reports. He added that Elliott plans to wear No. 15, which he wore in college.

Elliott visited with the Patriots at the end of July, with Mac Jones and Elliott pictured having dinner together in Boston following the workout.

Elliott was drafted by the Dallas Cowboys in the first round (fourth overall pick) in the 2016 NFL Draft.

Across his seven years with the Cowboys, Elliott has 8,262 rushing yards and 68 touchdowns across 103 games played. On the receiving side, has has recorded 305 receptions for 2,336 yards and 12 touchdowns.

The Patriots have Rhamondre Stevenson as the top running back heading into the 2023 season, with Stevenson coming off a breakout season. However, Elliott provides much needed depth to the offense.

And Elliott certainly seems excited to be joining.
