New Orleans Saints wide receiver Michael Thomas received a new deal during this offseason. Both sides agreed that it was the best option for their success this year. After three years filled with injury, Thomas got an incentive-driven contract from the Saints.
According to Spotrac, Thomas' base salary will be just $1,260,000 this season. His signing bonus was just over $5 million. His new deal has $2.5 million in incentive-based money, and that's something to keep an eye on this year. Nick Underhill broke down his full incentive list in the tweet below.
Accordingly, Thomas will need to perform to his peak in order to make a lot of extra money for New Orleans this season. The incentives are difficult based on the past few years, but they aren't impossible by any means. A couple of them are team-reliant, but most of the incentives will try to pull out the upside that the Saints have seen from Thomas in the past.
Thomas looked healthy and impressive during minicamp, so we will see how he looks at training camp in just over a month. He's trending upwards, and he will try to make himself and his agent look smart by signing this new deal.
