Eagles are still living rent-free in Deebo Samuel's head

The San Francisco 49ers star is still salty about the Eagles beating him in the NFL Playoffs

It wasn't too long ago when the Philadelphia Eagles put the San Francisco 49ers in their place by beating them in the NFC Championship game to the tune of 31-7

In that game, Philadelphia put on a show. In that game, now former Eagles running back Miles Sanders collected two touchdowns, quarterback Jalen Hurts scored one on the ground, and overall, Philadelphia wore down an overmatched 49ers team.

But in typical Niners' fashion, they are still making excuses. Specifically, star gadget player Deebo Samuel stated that the only reason his team lost had to do with the fact that they were down to ten players.

"We lost because we played with 10 people," Samuel said to Complex Sports. He added that there was "no question" the Niners were the better team.

That sounds like an excuse.

Yes, starting quarterback Brock Purdy went down with an arm injury. And then the Niners' backup, Josh Johnson, was knocked out of the game with a concussion. But that really comes down to San Francisco's inability to have adequate pass protection.

Injuries happen. But the Eagles were living in San Francisco's backfield, and its offensive line did little to limit the effectiveness of the Philadelphia pass rush. So, though the Niners had no quarterbacks left, the only people they have to blame are themselves.

Health is part of the equation. To win, teams need everything to break right. Philadelphia enjoyed that in the 2022 season. And following a successful 2023 draft, it looks like the franchise will be contending for another NFC championship come the fall. It is clear that the Eagles are still living rent-free in their NFC rival's head.
