When regarding NFL general managers, the Philadelphia Eagles' Howie Roseman is simply a cut above the rest.
And heading into the 2023 season, he has constructed another roster that is good enough to compete for a Super Bowl.
Recently, Cody Benjamin of CBS Sports created a ranking of NFL contenders by tiers, with which the Eagles fell into the top tier known as "trophy hunters" alongside the San Francisco 49ers and Dallas Cowboys.
"Philly probably owns the NFL's best all-around roster for a second consecutive year, thanks to general manager Howie Roseman's crafty ways," Benjamin wrote. "QB Jalen Hurts has the makeup to be a perennial MVP candidate, provided his physical rushing doesn't take him off the field, and the weapons across the board — A.J. Brown, DeVonta Smith, Haason Reddick, Darius Slay — coupled with an all-star O-line bode well. The biggest roadblocks to another Super Bowl trip may well be internal; while facing a tougher schedule, coach Nick Sirianni will be juggling new coordinators on both sides of the ball."
Throughout the offseason, the Eagles have attempted to replenish and refurbish much of what was lost following a run to the Super Bowl in 2022.
In the NFL Draft, the Eagles landed Jalen Carter who was in a free fall down the draft boards. Heading into draft night, Carter was considered one of the top non-quarterback prospects. The Eagles were able to land him in the late half of the top 10, making him a high-value selection for the talent he brings to the table.
The roster was thinned by free agency, but Philadelphia is banking on players contributing above their contracted value and Hurts enjoying another good season.
What can't be ignored is the fact that the Eagles are ring-chasing and they have a roster to prove it.
