The Philadelphia Eagles might be without one of their star defenders next season.
NFL Network's Tom Pelissero reports that the Eagles have received trade calls on defensive end Josh Sweat.
Sweat has spent his entire career in Philadelphia, being selected in the fourth round of the 2018 NFL Draft. Across his six years, he has a total of 196 tackles, 35 sacks, seven forced fumbles, nine passes defended, one interception and one touchdown.
And not to mention he was named to the Pro Bowl in 2021.
However, the key information missing is what teams are inquiring about Sweat. It could be that the Eagles are looking into it rather than teams specifically calling.
Sweat is set to enter the final year of his contract with the Eagles, but could find himself playing somewhere else next season.
NFL Network's Ian Rapoport added that the Eagles are also have granted edge Haason Reddick permission to facilitate a trade.
It seems Philadelphia's defense is changing in all areas after the team collapsed at the end of the 2023 season. And many people put the blame on the coaching staff, starting with Nick Sirianni.
Sirianni made the call to demote defensive coordinator Sean Desai during the season, instead turning to Matt Patricia as the play caller. And that clearly didn't work.
So with that, Patricia will not be back with the team next season and is set to pursue other opportunities.
And with the A lot, there is one player the Eagles are expected to target and that is defensive end Bryce Huff.
Now we just wait and see what happens.
