A scary situation occurred in the first quarter of the Philadelphia Eagles’ 20-10 loss to the New Orleans Saints. Defensive end Josh Sweat suffered what appeared to be a serious neck injury, leading to his transportation to a local hospital.

Sweat’s injury came just over five minutes into the game. He came off the edge to make a tackle on Saints fullback Adam Prentice. After the hit, a motionless Sweat was down on the ground with concerned teammates kneeling around him.

Thankfully, Sweat is reported to have movement in all extremities. The decision to transport Sweat to a hospital was made with an abundance of caution. He is expected to be released on Sunday night.

Sweat has been the heartbeat of the Eagles’ defense having totaled 11 sacks on the season. Though it was a gut-wrenching injury to watch, the door appears to be open for a postseason return from one of the NFL’s most underrated pass rushers.
