The Eagles probably won’t be acquiring him after his latest comments.

Howie Roseman has a knack for making major moves when people least expect it. Unfortunately, a massive move for the Philadelphia Eagles executive doesn’t seem particularly likely any longer – if it ever was.

Browns don’t plan to trade pass rusher Myles Garrett

Browns general manager Andrew Berry said that Myles Garrett is a “career Brown” in recent media availability. It sounds like the recent contract adjustments weren’t pinpointing a potential trade.

“He is one of the faces of our organization. I think we’ve been very clear both past and present in terms our feelings,” Berry said, via video from Mary Kay Cabot. “I understand all the questions, but I’ll be honest: I don’t really want to waste a ton more breath on the topic.”

Garrett is thirty years old but remains one of the few truly elite pass rushers in the NFL. If the Browns made him available on the trade market, the return would most likely be gargantuan.

Eagles’ need at EDGE

After seeing Jaelan Phillips leave during free agency, adding a star pass rusher has been on the list of “hopes” for many Eagles fans. They understand how important that piece of a roster is, and Philly’s group is a bit unproven as of now.

With that, there was speculation that Howie Roseman would try to trade for Garrett if given a clear opportunity to do so. Now, that seems less likely than it did even just a few days ago when many believed it was more likely than it ever has been.

“According to ESPN’s Field Yates, the Browns and Garrett agreed to move his $29.2 million option bonus from March 25 to seven days before the season begins in September. This will happen each year of the remaining contract running through the 2030 season. Cleveland receives no real salary cap benefit from the move outside of now having more flexibility on when they can trade Garrett.” — Brandon Little, A to Z Sports

We will see if the Eagles take a look around the league for another impact pass rusher before this year’s draft. If not, I would expect they address the position on one of the first two days in late April.
