As it stands, Dan Moore Jr. is the starting left tackle for the Pittsburgh Steelers.

How long that lasts is yet to be determined given that training camp could create a battle between him and Broderick Jones.

But if Jones were to win and the Steelers either released him or courted a trade partner, there is reason to believe Moore would fetch a market that may shock Steelers fans.

Moore Jr. to be highly coveted?

"It's hard to criticize his resume," The Athletic's Mark Kaboly told 93.7 The Fan when asked about Moore's future. "What does he have, 50 career starts? I think people pay attention a little bit too much to Pro Football Focus numbers with him. I don't think he's as bad as a lot of people think he is. Is he great? No, but put it this way. If he leaves next year, a guy that's 25 and has 50-some-odd starts, he's gonna get paid a decent amount of money next year. He's gonna be like a Kevin Dotson type of guy because the position is so light."

Dotson, who was offloaded before the 2023 season had the best year of his career last season as a member of the Los Angeles Rams, signing a three-year $48 million deal just months after Pittsburgh gave him up for a day-three pick.

And if Dotson, (who plays guard) can command that big of a market, it's safe to assume that a durable tackle who is only 26 years old and has a history of earning performance pay escalators will cash in big time if and when Pittsburgh lets him walk.

Sure he doesn't have the best PFF grades, but if teams made decisions solely off PFF grades, there would be a lot of good players left unsigned, let's just say that. A high-character player who can perform in a rhythmic offense as a pass protector and displace defenders in the run game, It's safe to assume he makes a bank in this economy when hitting the open market.

In the meantime, however, he is still the starter for the Steelers, and unless they move Broderick Jones to left tackle and decide to buck their tendencies of making rookies sit, it's going to stay that way until 2025 when Moore's rookie contract expires.
