They say winning cures everything in the NFL.
Well, following a week that had Diontae Johnson in the news for all the wrong reasons, the Pro Bowler doubled down with head-scratching actions on Sunday.
And boy is he lucky the Steelers won, because if they didn't, the answer he gave certainly wouldn't fly:
Can't Win With It
“No, I just didn’t see it,” Johnson told reporters when asked if he was upset and just ignored the fumble. “I was just doing what I was doing — blocking or whatever.”
That tells you all you need to know about that play in my opinion, with "Whatever" being the operative word in that quote.
Johnson definitely saw the ball and ignored it. And if you watch the clip closely and from the beginning, I don't know about you, but it certainly looked like Johnson was doing much more of the "Whatever" then blocking, with piss poor effort from snap to whistle on that play.
So it didn't matter what he said, as it all was going to be an excuse unless he just owned up to the I don't give a s*** attitude that he made him go viral:
And I've been a Johnson defender for some time. Pittsburgh missed his natural ability to separate and smooth route running while he was on I.R. Weeks 2-6. But these kinds of actions are why WRs are often labeled divas and self-centered, with Johnson just further adding to the stereotype on Sunday.
