The Pittsburgh Steelers are only hours away from the final 53-man roster deadline.
In an effort to lower the number of players on the roster, they have traded offensive lineman Kendrick Green, per Tom Pelissero of NFL Media:
Green was on the outside looking in when it came to making the roster. A healthy scratch for all of last season, he needed to have a big camp and preseason to make the team.
And while it started out promising with special packages of him at fullback, displaying athleticism and versatility, it ended poorly.
Green struggled mighty in the preseason, seemingly having the yips when it came to snapping the football. That made him expendable in the eyes of Pittsburgh, who actually received something in return:
The compensation may come across as trivial, especially given it was a mere sixth-rounder in a draft nearly two years away, but being able to get anything back for Green is a win in my book and another in the column of Omar Khan.
