No matter what happens this offseason, the Pittsburgh Steelers will have to leave free agency and or the draft with answers at center.

And while round three may seem a little late to address the concern, Pittsburgh has other fish to fry on defense as well.

That makes Boston College's offensive lineman Christian Mahogony an ideal fit in round three coming off the NFL Combine:

The Steelers should draft Boston College OL Christian Mahogany with the 84th overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft

Mahogany Came in a little short for a guard at just over 6'3, but that's just fine as far as Pittsburgh is concerned.

Why? Because Pittsburgh will be moving him to center, a position they need to fill and one that he's capable of when speaking to those close to him:

Scouting Blurb on Christian Mahogony:

"I definitely think so," an anonymous personnel member at Boston College told me when I asked if Mahogony could play center in the NFL. "He Moves well enough and is strong enough. Think he’s right in the middle of a lot of thresholds for that. Height, weight, lateral range in the run game, anchor. Fits better at guard but can swing in any of the 3 interior spots. He just wants to play. He won’t care where."

Final Word

It's not a question of if, but when, as far as the Steelers addressing the center position. Maybe it happens in free agency, or maybe they attack the need early in day two or even in round one.

But with other positions of need, especially in light of rumored trade talks, an elite athlete who can play up and down the line is the best you can ask for in Round 3 of the NFL Draft.
