The Pittsburgh Steelers have now signed free agents, made their draft picks, and signed more rookie free agents to deals after the draft.

The roster is stacked top to bottom but only 53 players will make it out come September. So with that in mind, let's project which players will be on the roster come the kickoff of the regular season.

Note: Players with single asterisk (*) are 2023 draft picks and players with double asterisks (**) are 2023 undrafted free agents.

Quarterback (2)

IN: Kenny Pickett, Mitch Trubisky
OUT: Tanner Morgan**

The skinny: Pittsburgh could make things interesting and decide to release Trubiksy in favor of the much cheaper Morgan but hedging your bet on a rookie undrafted free agent to be your backup is certainly a risky proposition.

Running back (4)

IN: Najee Harris, Jaylen Warren, Anthony McFarland Jr, Connor Heyward
OUT: Monte Pottebaum**, Master Teague, Jason Huntley

The skinny: I have Heyward with this group because I believe he will double as a fullback and tight end, making him an easier choice to keep on the roster as the 4th back.

Wide receiver (7)

IN: Diontae Johnson, George Pickens, Allen Robinson II, Calvin Austin, Gunner Olszewski, Miles Boykin, Anthony Miller
OUT:  Ja'Marcus Bradley, Jordan Byrd**, Dan Chisena, Dez Fitzpatrick  Cody White

The Skinny: Pittsburgh has their top three solidified in Johnson, Pickens, and Robinson, with Calvin Austin III slated to make his NFL debut after missing all of his rookie season. I then choose to go with two special teams contributors in Olszewski a Boykin and Miller

Tight end (3)

IN: Pat Friermuth, Darnell Washington*, Zach Gentry
OUT: Rodney Williams

The skinny: This group could present some ominous three tight end sets for Pittsburgh and since I choose to go with seven receivers, were only gong to carry three tight ends.

Offensive line (10)

IN: Broderick Jones, Isaac Seumalo, Mason Cole, James Daniels, Chukwuma Okorafor, Dan Moore Jr., Kevin Dotson, Nate Herbig, Le'Raven Clark, Kendrick Green
OUT: Spencer Anderson*, Trevor Downing** William Dunkle, Ryan McCollum

The skinny: After adding plenty of guards in free agency, if the Steelers really feel they need another center on the roster then I could see either McCollum returning or Anderson making the roster, but I think Green is capable of being the backup there.

Defensive line (6)

IN: Cameron Heyward, Keeanu Benton*, Larry Ogunjobi, Breiden Fehoko, DeMarvin Leal, Isaiahh Loudermilk
OUT: Montavius Adams, Armon Watts, Renell Wren, Johnathan Marshall, James Nyamwaya**

The skinny: With the addition of Benton and re-signing of Ogunjobi, the line is in good shape and will no longer need the services of Watts and Adams, with solid depth in Fehoko, Leal, and Loudermilk.

Outside linebacker (4)

IN: T.J Watt, Alex Highsmith, Quincy RocheNick Herbig*
OUT: David Perales** Chapelle Russel, Emeke Egbule

The skinny: Egbule is likely on the outs after the Steelers used a fourth pick on Herbig, who is largely going to be a designated pass rusher as he continues to develop and mature both physically and as a full time edge player.

Inside linebacker (4)

IN: Cole Holcomb, Elandon Roberts, Mark Robinson, Tanner Muse
OUT: Tae Crowder

The skinny: I Choose Muse over Crowder here simply on the fact that he can be more of an asset in pass coverage, which is something severely lacking in this group as it currently stands.

Cornerback (6)

IN: Patrick Peterson, Joey Porter Jr.* Akhello Witherspoon, Arthur Maulet, Levi Wallace, Cory Trice Jr.*
OUT: Duke Dawson, Madre Harper, James Pierre, Chandon Sullivan, Chris Wilcox

The skinny: It's a hard decision to let Pierre walk given our shared Alma Mater of FAU and the tangible asset he's been as a spot starter and special teamer, but I firmly believe that Trice Jr. who was selected in the seventh round will be an asset for the Steelers if healthy.

Safety (4)

IN: Minkah Fitzpatrick, Damontae Kazee, Keanu Neal, Tre Norwood
OUT: Miles Killebrew Scott Nelson, Elijah Riley, Kenny Robinson

The skinny: The late addition of Neal in free agency will likely slide Killebrew out as he offers more versatility and may play the linebacker-safety hybrid that he shined at during his early years in Atlanta.

Special Teams (3)

IN: Chris Boswell, Pressley Harvin, Christian Kuntz
OUT: Braden Mann, BT Potter**

The skinny: I believe the Steelers brought Mann in to "push" Harvin if you will, as the former Ray Guy winner for best punter in the country while at Georgia Tech has struggled to carry over his success to the league. Potter is likely a camp leg and could gain a role elsewhere.
