It's opening night for Big Game festivities and that means interviews with the top stars on both teams. Every interviewer always tries to get some fun answers, maybe ignite some controversy ahead of the Big Game. And when it came time to interview 49ers starting quarterback Brock Purdy NFL Network was certainly seeking something spicy.
The network's Michael Robinson (former NFL fullback and Super Bowl Champ) noted that the Detroit Lions' wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown is now famous for knowing all 16 receivers selected ahead of him the NFL Draft and then asked Brock Purdy:
"There were eight quarterbacks that got drafted before you. Can you name them and what school they went to?"
It's a fun question to ask, because fellow late round pick (and the GOAT) Tom Brady also famously emphasized that he memorized every single quarterback selected ahead of him to motivate himself.
It seems both Brady and Purdy's recent NFC Championship opponenet St. Brown clearly hold a bit of a grudge for being selected so late in the draft. But when Purdy was asked about it, what spicy answer did he have for us?
"Honestly I'm not that kind of guy. I know a couple of the guys who got drafted before me, but I've never held a grudge for it or anything. I'm a believer that God has a plan for everybody and I fell to last for a reason."
Brock Purdy is too nice of a guy. That answer wasn't spicy at all. In fact, that answer was just about as spicy as Purdy's typical pre-game attire. Who in the world is going to root against this bright young man, leader, and made-for-movies kind of story?
Chiefs fans? Taylor Swift fans? Yeah, that's probably it though. Only a few hundred million people.
