Tennessee Titans head coach Mike Vrabel could be the top option to potentially replace Bill Belichick as the head coach of the New England Patriots.

According to the Boston Globe's Ben Volin, Vrabel is the considered Patriots owner Robert Kraft's "home run choice" to replace Belichick if a coaching change in New England is deemed necessary this offseason.

From the Boston Globe: Two sources close to the Patriots have independently said the same thing: They believe Vrabel, currently the Titans’ coach, is the Krafts’ “home run” choice to succeed Belichick.

Volin also noted in his report that "barring a miracle turnaround, it seems increasingly likely that this season is Belichick’s last in Foxborough".

Belichick and the Patriots are 2-6 through eight games this season, just a year after going 8-9 and missing the playoffs for the second time in three years.

Vrabel played for Belichick in New England from 2001-2008. He's never coached under Belichick. The former Patriots linebacker is 51-38 in his career as the Titans' head coach. Last season was Vrabel's first losing season with the Titans, going 7-10 with a limited roster.

Belichick reportedly signed an extension with the Patriots recently, but Volin noted that one source believes that the extension only runs through the 2024 season. Volin also thinks there's a realistic chance that Belichick doesn't finish out the 2023 season as New England's head coach.
