Texas Longhorns DL T'Vondre Sweat is proving why he will be a game wrecker at the NFL level

MOBILE, AL — There may not be a more physically intimidating or dominating player at the 2024 Senior Bowl than Texas Longhorns defensive tackle T'Vondre Sweat.
Listed at 6-foot-4 and 362 pounds, Sweat has all the strength in the world and plays with a lot of leverage. His presence in the interior powered the Longhorns to being a Top 15 scoring defense and helped him become an unanimous All-American and Outland Trophy winner.
Sweat was one of the players I was most excited to see in person at this week's Senior Bowl in Mobile, and he has absolutely been living up to the hype.
The explosive manner in which Sweat gets off the line of scrimmage changed games for Texas in 2023. It also had heads turning at the Senior Bowl on Wednesday when he bull rushed Arkansas Razorbacks center Beaux Limmer and nearly folded him in half.
Sweat is even bigger in person than he looks on tape, but he's a lot more than just a strong and big defensive tackle. His footwork is impeccable and allows him to plug holes in the run game. He has a motor, and is well-conditioned.
Sweat is not going to quit on a play that gets bounced outside. Being in top tier shape and staying active is something he prioritizes.
I couldn't be more bullish on Sweat as an NFL prospect who is going to have a large impact on a team's defense next season. I think anybody who has been watching him closely this week would tell you the same, and nobody has seen more of Sweat than Tennessee Titans defensive line coach Terrell Williams.
Williams is serving as the head coach of the American Team for the 2024 Senior Bowl and has had the chance to be front and center for a lot of the work Sweat has been doing in practice. Sweat told me on Wednesday evening that Williams has been in more defensive line meetings this week than any other position group, which makes sense seeing as that's where Williams' expertise is.
While we are still awaiting word on Williams' fate as Brian Callahan and Ran Carthon assemble their coaching staff in Tennessee for the 2024 season, he's probably on a very short list of coaches who could be retained. The organization thinks very highly of him. Should Williams be back as defensive line coach, I can absolutely see a world where the Titans target Sweat in the 2024 NFL Draft. He'd be great next to Jeffery Simmons.
"It's a blessing to even get to experience NFL coaching before I even make it to the pros and (Williams may even be coaching me, who knows? That's what's awesome about it," said Sweat on Wednesday evening.
James Foster of AtoZ Sports Film Room labeled former Titans defensive lineman Teair Tart as Sweat's closest NFL player comparison. But I am not embellishing when I say that Sweat is probably bigger, stronger, faster, and better conditioned than Tart is.
Sweat told me that he is hoping to prove himself as a pass rusher this week. "I get question a lot of 'Can a big guy pass rush?'…turn on the film and you'll see," said Sweat.
The film doesn't lie. His practice performance doesn't either. T'Vondre Sweat is going to be a game wrecker at the NFL level and while adding to the defensive line may not be the Tennessee Titans' biggest need, adding a player of this caliber in the draft is an intriguing thought.
Senior Bowl standout would make for no-brainer Titans draft pick
Titans should definitely draft him if they can.
