A national reporter thinks the Buffalo Bills may have got a big steal this offseason.

Gregg Rosenthal, an editor for NFL.com, recently pointed out the Bills’ extension with wide receiver Isaiah McKenzie this offseason as a move that could pay off in a big way for Buffalo in 2022.

McKenzie signed a two-year extension reportedly worth up to $8 million (full details of the extension can be found here).

From NFL.com:

Isaiah McKenzie‘s modest extension this offseason could turn into a steal for the Bills. He’s taken hold of Buffalo’s slot receiver role over veteran Jamison Crowder.

McKenzie, who joined the Bills during the 2018 season, has put up modest numbers throughout his career. His best season came in 2020 when he caught 30 passes for 282 yards and five touchdowns.

Now that the former Georgia standout is poised to operate as the Bills’ primary slot receiver, he should see a significant bump in production.

Plenty of praise for Bills WR Isaiah McKenzie

Quarterback Josh Allen has been quick to praise McKenzie this offseason, which gives us even more evidence that Buffalo’s offseason contract extension with the young wide receiver will be a steal.

One of the reasons McKenzie will have a chance to shine in 2022 is the departure of wide receiver Cole Beasley, who is still a free agent.

Beasley actually tweeted support for McKenzie after a fan suggested that the emergence of McKenzie is why Buffalo didn’t bring Beasley back in 2022.

All the signs point to McKenzie having a breakout season in 2022. But he’ll of course have to prove he’s deserving of the hype once the bright lights come on September. When the regular-season game start, preseason hype goes out the window, and all that matters are results.
