Buffalo Bills cornerback Dane Jackson was selected in the seventh round of the 2020 NFL Draft, but he already has eight starts under his belt as he enters his third season in the league.
Eight starts is certainly nothing to celebrate in the grand scheme of things, but it’s still impressive how quickly Jackson has found himself playing meaningful snaps. Especially when considering his draft position.
Entering 2022, there’s an opportunity for Jackson to keep up the meaningful snaps. Tre’Davious White is on the PUP list, which leaves rookies Kaiir Elam and Christian Benford as Jackson’s main competition.
Sure, Elam is a first-rounder, so Jackson will have his hands full with him. But, Jackson has the advantage when it comes to the playbook and just overall NFL experience.
But, Jackson will certainly find himself behind Elam, and possibly even Benford, if he has more reps like the one below:
Clean up on aisle 3, anyone?
Granted, Jackson is matched up on Stefon Diggs, here. And Diggs can make anyone look bad.
Just ask Marshon Lattimore.
It’s training camp, too. But even with all of this being said, the bottom line is Jackson can’t have this happen.
Especially if he wants to keep starting games for the Bills defense.
