The Chicago Bears have a player that should be a lock to have a breakout season in 2022.

Tight end Cole Kmet, who is entering his third year with the Bears, has received a significant amount of praise this week.

There’s been enough praise that’s it impossible to ignore (training camp praise can be deceptive at times).

For starters, quarterback Justin Fields has displayed great chemistry with Kmet while offering praise for the young tight end.

Former NFL tight end Clay Harbor also praised Kmet this week, suggesting that he can be a special player for Chicago.

On Friday, Bears offensive coordinator Luke Getsy continued the positive feedback on Kmet, telling reporters that the young tight end has “all the tools”.

Getsy also said Kmet is on the verge of taking his game to the next level while noting that Chicago needs him to be a “rock star” this season.

Kmet, who was selected by the Bears in the second round of the 2020 NFL Draft (No. 43 overall), showed a lot of improvement in his second season in the NFL last year.

The former Notre Dame standout caught 60 passes for 612 yards in 2021. Those may not seem like insane numbers, but that’s impressive for a second-year tight end in an offense that was…questionable at times.

Kmet has the trust of the coaches and his quarterback. He’s being pointed out by former players as someone who can be special. And he’s coming off a solid second season in the NFL.

All the ingredients are there for Cole Kmet to have a huge breakout season for the Bears in 2022.
