ESPN made some bold predictions this week for each NFL team ahead of the 2022 season and they think the Chicago Bears are going to start the season off with a bang.

They have the Bears winning the season-opener against the San Francisco 49ers in Chicago on September 11.

“Chicago will avenge its 2021 loss to San Francisco by beating the 49ers in their season opener,” wrote ESPN’s Courtney Cronin.

The 49ers beat the Bears 33-22 last season in Chicago.

This might not seem bold to Bears fans, but I’m sure it is to 49ers fans.

With Chicago currently going through a major rebuild under new general manager Ryan Poles, which has resulted in a “lean year” for the franchise, the 49ers fan base is undoubtedly already marking this game down as a win.

San Francisco is a team with postseason aspirations, but they’re far from a lock to make the playoffs. This is a game the 49ers can’t afford to lose if they hope to play deep into January.

The Bears, on the other hand, are looking to prove that they’re a dangerous team, despite the rebuild. And new head coach Matt Eberflus certainly wants to get off to a good start in Chicago.

If the 49ers take the Bears lightly in week one, it’s very possible that ESPN’s bold prediction comes true.
