The Chicago Bears‘ 2022 season got off to a good start as the team won its season-opener against the San Francisco 49ers.

Chicago’s 19-10 win over the 49ers wasn’t necessarily pretty, but it showed us glimpses of what this team can be under new head coach Matt Eberflus.

The Bears were relentless against San Francisco. And that’s ultimately what won them the game.

There’s one note that came from the game that should really get fans excited about the future.

According to WC Gridiron’s Lester Wilftong Jr, the Bears had the most rookies/first-year players on their week one roster in the NFL. They also had the second least experienced team in week one.

That’s a great sign for the future for a couple of reasons.

For starters, it’s clear that Chicago has a good foundation of young players in place. Those players are only going to get better as they continue to progress.

More importantly, though, their success in week one, and the way they played against a good 49ers team, shows us that Eberflus’ approach is working. The players are bought in. And we know that because if they weren’t bought in, a team that young wouldn’t have had the same success.

This team is going places. Once they get some added talent — which should happen next offseason — the Bears are going to be a contender in the NFC.
