Green Bay Packers head coach Matt LaFleur saw his defense carved up by Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts on Sunday night and it immediately made him think about playing against Chicago Bears quarterback Justin Fields next weekend.

Hurts rushed for 157 yards against the Packers. The Eagles rushed for 363 yards as a team.

Fields didn’t play this past week against the New York Jets, but it’s possible he returns against Green Bay.

And if he does, LaFleur is already concerned about the NFL’s record holder for most rushing yards in a game by a quarterback.

“I don’t think we can look any further than our next opponent which is an NFC North opponent, Chicago Bears,” said LaFleur after the loss to Philadelphia. “And we know that if [Bears QB] Justin Fields is there, I’m sure we are going to get a lot of the same stuff we got tonight. He is an incredible quarterback as well. A guy that’s been tearing up the league the last few weeks in terms of his ability to run and extend plays and create. Just the way my mind works, it’s always looking at where you are. Staying in the moment. Living day to day. Try to do the best job you can. Trying to put the best plan together for our guys. And then demanding the best out of each individual within our organization.”

The Packers beat the Bears 27-10 earlier this season and Fields rushed for just 20 yards on eight attempts.

But that was before Chicago really turned Fields loose.

Judging by LaFleur’s comments, he’s aware of that. And after watching Hurts have his way with Green Bay’s defense, LaFleur knows that if Fields plays, it could be a long afternoon for the Packers.

If Fields ends up playing against Green Bay, he’ll likely need to lean on his legs even more than normal due to the loss of his top target, wide receiver Darnell Mooney.

Just another reason why LaFleur will be having nightmares all week.
