The Cincinnati Bengals and their eighth-best run defense took a significant blow on Thursday as defensive tackle DJ Reader was placed on injured reserve with an MCL issue.

The defending AFC champions didn’t have to wait long to get some good news regarding their defensive unit after that though. Linebacker Germaine Pratt, who missed the Bengals win against the New York last week with a knee injury, is active and will play Thursday night against the undefeated Miami Dolphins.

Pratt was taken by the Bengals in the third round of the 2019 NFL draft. He’s seen his production increase each year, making Pratt an important cog on a Bengals’ defense that is often overshadowed by its plethora of offensive stars.

Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa is currently second in the NFL in passing yards (925) thanks to explosive targets like Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle. It’s as going to be a tough task for the Bengals’ defense to slow them down regardless, but having Pratt back will at least ease some of the difficulty.
