Cincinnati Bengals legend Chad Johnson thinks he knows who the best No. 1 NFL draft pick of all time is….and unsurprisingly, he thinks it’s a Bengal.

Johnson responded to a tweet from CBS Sports that asked who the best No. 1 pick ever is and the former Cincinnati wide receiver suggested that it’s current Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow.

Now, it’s obviously a bit early to start proclaiming Burrow as the best No. 1 pick ever — he’s only been in the NFL for two years and he doesn’t have a Super Bowl ring (yet).

But I think there’s already a legitimate argument here.

There aren’t many quarterbacks in NFL history who have turned a franchise around like Burrow has helped turn around Cincinnati over the last two years.

The Bengals went from a laughing stock in the NFL to one of the “it” teams in less than two seasons thanks to Burrow.

In 2019, the Bengals went 2-14. The idea of Cincinnati playing in a Super Bowl anytime soon was so ridiculous that no one dared suggest it as a possibility.

Fast forward to 2021 and suddenly the Bengals are in the Super Bowl with a chance to win (they came up short against the Los Angeles Rams).

Cincinnati should be even better in 2022, thanks to a much-improved offensive line.

Burrow has a long way to go before he can prove that Johnson is right. But while many will take Johnson’s suggestion as a joke, I think he could end up being 100 percent correct.
