Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow.

It’s crazy how short that non-sentence is yet how much it makes you feel. Burrow has taken over as one of the NFL’s biggest stars and gave Bengals fans one of the best seasons in franchise history when he got Cincy all the way to the Super Bowl in just year two of his career.

We’ll save the stats for later.

For now, let’s point out that he did it on a relatively simple offense. Mind you, I wouldn’t suggest any NFL offensive scheme is simple. But it’s an undeniable fact that the Bengals didn’t have a scheme that would rival Kyle Shanahan’s or Sean McVay’s complexity.

Cincinnati got where it got because of its players. At least offensively speaking. Film specialist for A to Z Sports James Foster explains in his recent film breakdown of Joey B.

“No team relied on pure high-end talent more than the Bengals,” says Foster in the video. “I don’t blame (Zac Taylor) for letting the play-makers on his team take over.”

On Thursday, A to Z Sports made multiple exciting announcements about the future of the NFL coverage you will be able to get here. Among those, A to Z Sports Film Room was announced.

“The channel provides audiences with in-depth film analysis unavailable on game broadcasts and sports talk shows,” read the press release. Breakdowns on the Cincinnati Bengals will be available as well.

In the above video, Foster reveals how the Bengals relied on isolated football with their WR1 – Ja’Marr chase – more than any other team in the league. He also breaks down Burrow’s accuracy on those deep throws to make it happen.

Joe Cool’s accuracy leads to another huge factor in his success as the Bengals QB. Efficiency.

“Whether you were on split-safety (coverage) or single-high, that had no effect on Joe Burrow’s willingness to target that Go route on the backside of whatever play they called,” reveals Foster.

“When you’ve got a quarterback with Joe Burrow’s accuracy down the field, those hole shots are going to have a pretty high success rate.”

As the Cincinnati Bengals get ready to reap the benefits from a strong offseason across the offensive line, there’s nowhere to go but up this season.
